After an exciting series against the Yankee's where there was blood, sweat, fights, bench clearings, and absolutely amazing plays we begin to realize that the historic rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankee's may finally be making a comeback. After such a long period of time where it seemed like the Tampa Bay Rays were more of a rival to us and the Oriole's were more of a rival to the Yankee's, we can finally start to see the most historic rivalry in sports history comeback and what an explosive way for a comeback than a fight between pitcher and batter. After Tyler Austin slid into the calf of Brock Holt with his cleats up and a verbal altercation, Joe Kelly took it upon himself to get a little revenge and throw a fastball right into the square of Tyler Austin's back. Tyler got upset and cracked his bat against homeplate and took off after Kelly where Kelly decided it was time for a rain of haymakers. He didn't even care where his fist went, but connection after connection to Tyler's face made us all realize that Joe Kelly can be a brawler.

With all the excitement the day after a 14-1 domination by the Red Sox, I think that is exactly what we needed to see for the rivalry to be explosive again. Not only were there these events, but also Mookie Betts hitting a grand slam in game one then J.D. Martinez hitting a grand slam the very next day in game 2 with constant hits back to back never ceasing made for the most exciting games of the season so far and I can only hope that every series versus the Yankee's can be as exciting as this series was. It is official now that the Red Sox have a 2-1 lead over the Yankee's and only time will tell if we can keep this line of victories going.
